Clementine doesn't use Phonon AFAIK, so the problem lies somewhere else.

What's the output of:
grep spawn /etc/pulse/client.conf
ps aux | grep pulse
rpm -qa '*pulse*' | sort

Comment 3 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-03 04:36:50 CEST
On my Mageia 1 install, clementine is working with pulseaudio.

When I was running Mandriva 2010.2, I had to disable pulseaudio in draksound,
or I also had no sound from clementine, even though other audio applications
like rhythmbox worked ok with it.

Try disabling pulseaudio.

but
I have working sound in Clementine?
Comment 5 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-03 05:20:26 CEST
Sorry. I'd just read Comment 2 and the subject in the message in the bugs
mailing list, then went to bugzilla and added my comment without reading
the prior comment.

Now that I have read comment 1, what's the output of
file name-of-file-being-played?
Comment 6 Garth Hoyman 2011-07-03 06:05:24 CEST
I don't quite understand the question
all 19000 of my files are MP3s
I pulled up the smart play list of all & there doesn't seem to be any problem, I tried at least the 1st 20 or so
Comment 7 Ahmad Samir 2011-07-03 07:27:28 CEST
Clementine seems to be able to play sounds with and without gstreamer0.10-pulse...

Do you remember if any packages got installed when you installed phonon-gstreamer? if not, post the output of:
rpm -qa --last | grep -n10 phonon-gstreamer

Uninstall phonon-gstreamer then:
- uninstall gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, and restart clementine, does it still work?
- uninstall gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly and restart clementine, does it still work?
Comment 10 Garth Hoyman 2011-07-03 08:13:49 CEST
Removed phonon-gstreamer & gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg still works
uninstalling gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly version 1.mga1 breaks it
reinstall works again
Comment 11 Ahmad Samir 2011-07-03 09:33:24 CEST
clementine suggests gstreamer0.10-decoders-audio which suggests -ugly, but gstreamer0.10-decoders-audio doesn't exist in the repos (gstreamer0.10-decoders wasn't imported).

Leaving the report open for now.
Comment 12 John Balcaen 2011-07-03 14:15:27 CEST
I pushed a new clementine package in core/updates_testing with most of the suggests available from the gstreamer0.10-decoders-audio package) .
Could you please test?
(please note that mp3 won't work without gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly but since it's ugly i don't think we should requires.)

Created attachment 633 [details]
rpm packages missing from urpmq --requires-recursive clementine

The attached list shows the rpm packages that own files used by
clementine when playing an mp3 file, that are not in the list
given by urpmq --what-requires-recursive clementine.

I produced the list by running "strace -f -ostrace.txt clementine file.mp3",
running http://www.ody.ca/~dwhodgins/strace2urpmi to get a list of all of
the rpm packages that own files used in the clementine run, and then comparing
that list, to the list produced by the urpmq command.

This is with the core testing version of clementine, in a Mageia 1 install.

In order to play a mp3 clementine is in fact using gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly.
With the package available in Core/updates_testing i add them as suggests.

This package should be pushed in release with this Advisory

« The clementine package available in Mageia 1 was suggesting a meta package for codecs which is not available in Mageia 1, this new package directly suggests the missing gstreamer plugins »

Comment 18 Samuel Verschelde 2011-07-22 15:40:40 CEST
Testing completed.

Please push clementine to updates.

Advisory :

The clementine package available in Mageia 1 was suggesting a meta package
for codecs which is not available in Mageia 1, this new package directly
suggests the missing gstreamer plugins. This ensures that clementine can play audio files.
