Description PC LX 2016-09-22 13:20:05 CEST
Description of problem:

MCC fails to setup the autologin.

When setting up autologin, MCC tries to install a kdm package, complaints that it does not find a kdm package, and fails to setup the autologin.

This happens in a system upgraded from a Mageia 5 installation where autologin was setup using mcc and was working.

The command "urpmf --name kdm" returns no results. There is no kdm package in the repositories.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

drakconf-13.7-3.mga6

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run MCC.
2. Select "Boot" > "Set up autologin to automatically login".
3. Select "Yes, I want to autologin with this (user, desktop)".
4. Select a "Default user" and "Default dekstop".
5. Click OK.
6. A dialog opens, asking "The package kdm needs to be installed. Do you want to install it?". Click OK.
7. A dialog opens, saying "No package named kdm". Click OK.
8. A dialog opens, saying "Could not install the kdm package!". Click OK.
9. Again, select "Boot" > "Set up autologin to automatically login".
10. See that the changes were not saved.
11. Restart and see that the user is asked for authentication. Autologin is not setup.

This looks very much like bug 19234.

However, not closing as duplicate, but assigning to the kde maintainers because of the "The package kdm needs to be installed" message and install attempt.

@ PC LX

Do you use SDDM & Plasma5 ?

yes for both sddm and plasma5.

# rpm -q task-plasma5 sddm
task-plasma5-5.7.95-1.mga6
sddm-0.14.0-5.mga6
Comment 3 PC LX 2016-10-15 12:50:46 CEST
This bug is still valid on a up-to-date cauldron installation.

> Wrong package

Thierry, in order to avoid having people need to look at the detailed history, could you in the future write something like "The relevant package is 'xxx'."?

Reading the comments and seeing just "Wrong package" is hard to understand when not having read the bugzilla mail notifications when it occurred.
Comment 6 Nicolas Lécureuil 2016-11-02 17:20:48 CET
seems to be fixed on git.

Thierry you agree on this or i misread the code ? :)

This bug is still valid in a up-to-date Mageia (6) cauldron.
Comment 8 PC LX 2016-12-07 12:43:05 CET
I was able to setup autologin on a up-to-date Mageia cauldron. It seems to be working correctly.

After doing another Mageia 5 to Mageia 6 (cauldron) upgrade this bug is back. The system is up-to-date.

$ rpm -q drakconf sddm task-plasma5
drakconf-13.13-1.mga6
sddm-0.14.0-12.mga6
task-plasma5-5.8.6-1.mga6

Did you still see the message that KDM needs to be installed, like when you filed this report?

Yes, I'm seeing the "The package kdm needs to be installed. Do you want to install it?" and after I click OK, I see the message "No package named kdm".

This issue was fixed before so there is a regression.

Comment 12 PC LX 2017-04-18 16:12:59 CEST
This issue is, again, fixed. Autologin can be setup in mcc and it works but there is a regression in mcc, possibly related to this fix.

When autologin is enabled, in mcc the option that is selected is "No, I do not want to autologin". This is incorrect (I think). The option "Yes, I want to autologin (...)" is the one that should be selected.

The "Default user" and "Default desktop" drop downs select boxes show the correct selection but are disabled because the option "No, I do not want to autologin" is the one (incorrectly) selected.

Should I open a new bug report for the new issue and close this issue as resolved? Or should the new issue be handled here?

$ rpm -q drakconf
drakconf-13.15-1.mga6
Comment 13 PC LX 2017-05-10 00:17:35 CEST
This issue has been resolved. Even this side issue in comment 12 is fixed. Closing this issue as resolved/fixed.

$ rpm -q drakconf sddm task-plasma5-minimal
drakconf-13.15-1.mga6
sddm-0.14.0-13.mga6
