Are they the same widget, or is it kmix + plasma-pa?

Guess so. they are different when I click on them.

How can I find the name of a widget in the task bar?

I'm not sure, but if they are different then it's likely those two yes, I've seen this issue too. To be sure you can kill kmix and plasma-pa one after the other and see the systray icon removed :)

I think I had this issue a couple of days ago where kmix all of a sudden decided to autostart even though I had plasma-pa running already. Then I killed kmix, rebooted and since then it's working ok I think.

I don't recall having this issue the last time I upgraded, so hopefully it's fixed now.
