Description of problem: Avidemux does not allow encoding in x264 video and mp3 audio Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.5.4 How reproducible: Always Could a build of Avidemux be added to the repositories that allows encoding in 'tainted' codecs?

I second this request, and add that encoding to Xvid should be added.

I saw that in cauldron, avidemux 2.5.5 has been submitted to tainted too. I have rebuilt the SRPM on mga1 (x86_64), the patch 6 must be removed (as it is a correction to build with the newer x264 of mga2). I can encode to x264 and mp3. Would it be possible to have it submitted as a backport for both core and tainted? Or maybe have the spec modifications applied to the 2.5.4 in mga1 and submit it as an update in tainted? Whichever is simpler, I can test it when it reaches the *_testing repository.

There're two versions of the x264 patch, we'll need to old version to make the 2.5.4 package build at all (that old version of the patch is already in mga1 SVN).

A tainted build of avidemux should land in tainted/updates_testing, please test.

Do you have a testing case ? Maybe something that we can do with the tainted build and can't with the other ?

I think Renaud can test it, by encoding something in x264.
OK, I have tested it on x86_64 and it does encode fine in h.264 for video and mp3 for audio. I tested both the -gtk ant -qt build. (they have a problem loading a filter list saved by the other, but that seems related to the fact that they don't associate the same tag to the same filter) I'll get an older computer to test also the i586 build.
I have tested the -gtk and -qt build for i586 and they encode to h.264/mp3 too.
Ok, can you confirm (for i586 or x86_64) that the updated non-tainted RPM can't encode to h264 and mp3 ?
Yes, the packages from core doesn't show h264 or mp3 in the list of available codecs.
Ok, update validated. Please push avidemux-2.5.4-5.1.mga1 to both core/updates and tainted/updates Advisory : This update adds to the tainted media a build of avidemux using libs coming from this same tainted media. It allows it to encode to new formats, such as h.264 for video or mp3 for audio.

Seems there is at least libopencore-amr0 which needs to be linked to tainted_updates for the avidemux update.
