Description Thierry Vignaud 2015-05-20 08:53:41 CEST
uggested advisory:
===================
This drakxtools update fixes various issues, mainly several crashes in drakfont (mga#13627, mga#9347, mga#13363, the first one being a regression due to the gtk+2 -> gtk+3 switch).

It also fixes icons being clipped in banners at top of tools(mga#12358).
Last but not least, localedrake won't try anymore to install non existant scim-googlepinyin package for Chinese users (mga#6681).

How to reproduce:
==================
For first (main) issue:
- run drakfont --windows_import (with a MS partition mounted)
  => it crashes
- run drakfont, click on "uninstall", select a font to remove
  (best a one that you don't use), and delete it
  => it crashes
- run drakfont --testing
  => it crashes

Once the packages are updated, those don't crash anymore

For the icon issue, just run eg: rpmdrake.
You'll the icon is no more truncated at left in banner at top of tool.

List of packages:
==================
drakx-finish-install-16.26.14-1.mga4.x86_64.rpm

MGA4-32-OK

The drakfont does not crash anymore. (tested with a generic ttf font in media/windows/fonts dir)
The rpmdrake icon is OK

According to bug 15996 drakfont doesn't work as it should.

That's orthogonal to the fact that several crashes were fixed.

Indeed, but to a user who'd read the advisory (granted, since they don't appear in MageiaUpdate there's little chance), that would appear like we haven't tested our update: it doesn't crash but it doesn't work, no difference to a user.

Anyway, I'm not saying we must retain this update. Fixing the drakconf issue would be better, but if you can't fix it in this update we'll do with another later.
Comment 5 Thierry Vignaud 2015-05-21 09:25:48 CEST
Several drakfont feature that didn't work now work again

What's the issue with drakconf?
Also drakconf != drakxtools
Comment 6 Samuel Verschelde 2015-05-21 09:50:29 CEST
Oops I meant drakfont :)
