Description of problem: In MDV there is a game called "Extreme Tux Racer". Please add this to the Mageia software library. Thanks
I would also like to see this RPM added - Michael Webb

Package just pushed in "backports_testing" please test it and I will push it to updates.
Created attachment 616 [details] Snapshot showing illegible text. I've tested the game on Mageia 1, i586, and it works. I've never played this game before, and don't know if the illegible text is normal for it.
The summary of this RPM is bogus : %{Summary} :)

In the i586 backports testing repository it urpmq -i extremtuxracer shows Summary : OpenGL racing game featuring Tux Where are you seeing %{Summary} ?

(In reply to comment #6) > In the i586 backports testing repository it urpmq -i extremtuxracer shows > Summary : OpenGL racing game featuring Tux > > Where are you seeing %{Summary} ? In the cauldron package, apparently the backport doesn't have the problem.
I have tested this in Mageia 1, and it looks good to me. I am not seeing the blurry or illegible text shown in the image. For me it is very clear. Thanks for getting this added.

I don't get the blurry text (each letter drawn twice, with overlap) in a Cauldron install (updated from Mandriva), just in Mageia 1 (clean install) The xorg.conf files are identical in both. Are there any differences between the cauldron and Mageia 1 version likely to be related to this? It would not be good if this problem affected a new user. I've run both versions under strace, and compared the files opened. The only noticeable difference was that 1 opens /usr/share/games/extremetuxracer/speedy.tcl, at the same point where cauldron opens /usr/share/games/extremetuxracer/tux.tcl. Any suggestions for other settings to check?
It works ok here with the package from core-backports_testing, i586 with : Card:NVIDIA GeForce 6100 to GeForce 360: nVidia Corporation|G96 [GeForce 9600M GT] [DISPLAY_VGA] (rev: a1)
(In reply to comment #6) > In the i586 backports testing repository it urpmq -i extremtuxracer shows > Summary : OpenGL racing game featuring Tux > > Where are you seeing %{Summary} ? I have that in the gnome menu in Mageia 1 x86_64 [manu@vosdook ~]$ grep Comment= /usr/share/applications/mageia-extremetuxracer.desktop Comment=%{Summary} And I don't get the blurry text. Card:Intel 810 and later: Intel Corporation|Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [DISPLAY_VGA] (rev: 18)
(In reply to comment #11) This is a different bug (mine concerned the RPM summary tag, fixed in cauldron SVN but not submitted to cauldron I don't know why), but a valid one too : the .desktop file Comment entry is wrong.
All working for me too on Mageia 1. What is your graphic card and which driver do you use?
From lshw, the card is an ati RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE]. From xorg.conf, the driver is ati. Note that the Cauldron and Mageia 1 installs have identical copies of xorg.conf, so if it is a driver issue, it's fixed in the cauldron version. I'll test with the vesa driver, and see if that fixes it.
Ok. Testing with the vesa driver works. I'll file a bug report on x11-driver-video-ati. Can someone from the sysadmin team push the package extremetuxracer from Core Backports Testing to Core Backports please. The srpm is extremetuxracer-0.5-0.beta.6.mga1.src.rpm
O think it should be pushed to updates_testing so that it is then pushed to updates, as it was present in mandriva.
Damien, can you move extremetuxracer and the srpm from Core Backports Testing to Core Updates Testing? As per Comment 16 this package is in Mandriva 2010.2.
I submitted extremetuxracer-0.5-0.beta.6.1.mga1 to core/updates_testing for Mageia 1. Please test it :) Advisory : This update adds the Extreme Tux Racer arcade game which was present in Mandriva 2010.2 but missing in Mageia 1.
Works on i586. Package is extremetuxracer srpm extremetuxracer-0.5-0.beta.6.1.mga1.src.rpm When 64 bit testing complete, should be moved from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates and removed from Core Backports Testing.
Tested on x86_64 : OK.

I have still %{Summary} on the description of the game, see comment 11
The desktop file problem is now fixed in extremetuxracer-0.5-0.beta.6.2 Please test again :)

Hi, I have tested it on a 64 bit system, it works great. I found the package in the mirror list Core Backports testing repo. Thanks

Make sure your mirror has version 0.5-0.beta.6.2 before installing it. Thanks :)
The desktop file is OK.

(In reply to comment #16) > O think it should be pushed to updates_testing so that it is then pushed to > updates, as it was present in mandriva. No, you can't as a package not available in core when the distro is release MUST be pushed in backport as it's a backport! Extremetuxracer (and boinc, and others) must stay in backport as the mga policy.

Damien, have you forgotten the exception for packages present in Mandriva 2010.2 and absent from Mageia 1, for easier upgrades ?
Hi, I have tested the package in Core Updates Testing and it works great. Thanks.
Please push extremetuxracer to updates. Advisory : This update adds the Extreme Tux Racer arcade game which was present in Mandriva 2010.2 but missing in Mageia 1.
