Description John Alatalo 2011-06-03 11:43:24 CEST
I have installed the 32-bit DVD version in the hard drive.
But if I want to install Cheese or aMSN for example I must put in a DVD disk in the computer to be able to install them.

In Mandriva thats not necessary.

In the URL it's a screenshot how it looks when try to install Cheese.
Comment 2 Thomas Backlund 2011-06-03 12:20:46 CEST
You can disable the dvd media in the media manager, and it wont ask for it anymore.

Ok, thanks for the help.
Comment 4 Rémi Verschelde 2011-06-05 14:13:56 CEST
Having to disable the media prior to installing packages is not really user-friendly. Maybe we could:

- Disable the DVD media if the mirror sources were configured.
OR
- Check if the DVD is in the hard drive, and proceed to the next media if it is not (without asking for the DVD to be inserted, which prevents from using online sources).

I think the "default settings" after the installation of the Mageio DVD in the hardrive should be like in the other Linux distributions.
It would not ask for the DVD or cd again if you want to install a program thats already in the repo.

Go in to the settings and change this after the installation are more complicated for a ordinary user. Especially for a relative new Linux user.

I agree with this request (if it's doable technically of course). I think that many people do like me and just urpmi.removemedia -a after an installation from DVD, then add online media, to avoid this problem.

Assigning to maintainer now that our maintainers database has an entry for
this package. Please assign back to bugsquad@mageia.org in case of a mistake
from me.

Set version to cauldron:

Version: 1 => Cauldron

Comment 8 Marja Van Waes 2012-05-26 13:06:33 CEST
Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Same applies with 3beta4 after LXDE installation from i586 classical DVD.

This doesn't happen with 3beta4 i586 live CD KDE - additional apps can be installed without being asked to insert any media.
