Description claire robinson 2014-12-15 16:19:52 CET
5beta2 classic DVD 32 with default gnome installation

Gnome installation is missing libgnome2 & libgnome2_0

MageiaWelcome starts but the buttons giving access to documentation, bugzilla etc do nothing.

Journal shows..

gnome-session: /usr/bin/xdg-open: line 507: gnome-open: command not found.

Adding medias and checking with urpmf shows gnome-open is provided by libgnome2. When manually installed it also installs libgnome2_0.

Confirmed that with these packages installed the buttons in MageiaWelcome work as expected but MageiaWelcome itself is probably not a sensible place to add a require.

Comment 1 Anne Nicolas 2014-12-16 11:52:49 CET
Should it be a missing deps on mageiawelcome?
Comment 2 claire robinson 2014-12-16 18:18:40 CET
Not sure. It provides /usr/bin/gnome-open which is probably not needed anywhere other than gnome.
Comment 3 claire robinson 2014-12-17 11:20:45 CET
It could maybe be missing from xdg-utils which provides /usr/bin/xdg-open

Mate is also affected.

MageiaWelcome is all right with MATE or no? Mate should not require libgnome* ?

Installing gvfs package also fixes this problem. Although it pulls around 15M other packages as dependency (recommends).
Tested on fresh install from Gnome Live DVD pre-release mga5b2 iso.

Then again we have missing dependancies. Also recommends are not used by installer by default

Nothing in GNOME strictly requires gvfs. So adding a "Requires" anywhere is pretty much incorrect (it really is a recommend). I could add a require in mageiawelcome, but not sure. I'm thinking of just adding gvfs to CAT_GNOME in rpmsrate-raw. Packages can only appear once in that file though, and seems Cinnamon isn't doing the right thing with that.
Comment 12 Olav Vitters 2015-01-04 20:56:13 CET
Added to rpmsrate-raw. So gvfs should be installed in next iso (I think:P).
