Description David Walser 2014-12-08 17:53:47 CET
As previously discussed on the dev ml, we may want to have certain packages up to date in Mageia 5 for best compatibility with the newest kernels:
https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/dev/2014-11/msg00659.html

btrfs-progs 3.17.3 is building now and may need to be updated again before mga5.

iproute2, audit, usbutils, and pciutils still have yet to be updated.

openafs will need to be updated to 1.6.11 once it is released:
https://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-announce/2014/000476.html

btrfs-progs has been updated again to 3.18.2 since this was posted. There may be a 3.19 release in its future.

Also possibly of some of interest is ethtool 3.18.
Comment 3 David Walser 2015-02-15 17:35:07 CET
Current status of this:

We have btrfs-progs 3.18.2 and iproute2 3.18.0, so there may be a 3.19 update coming for those.

In fact, iproute2 3.19.0 is available upstream:
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/shemminger/iproute2.git/log/

For openafs, 1.6.11 is not available yet.

The other packages are the same as in my original post.

audit (currently 2.4.1 is available):
http://people.redhat.com/sgrubb/audit/ChangeLog

usbutils (currently 008 is available):
https://github.com/gregkh/usbutils/blob/master/NEWS

pciutils (currently 3.3.0 is available):

Raising priority so that this gets looked at before the release.

Priority: Normal => release_blocker

Comment 5 Anne Nicolas 2015-02-21 16:20:50 CET
audit 2.4.1 done

CC: (none) => ennael1

Comment 6 Anne Nicolas 2015-02-21 16:24:11 CET
usbutils 008 done
Comment 7 David Walser 2015-03-06 23:18:59 CET
iproute2 3.19.0 done by tmb.

openafs 1.6.11 is finally available:
https://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-announce/2015/000478.html

Sending a freeze push request now.
Comment 8 David Walser 2015-03-06 23:20:57 CET
Still to be addressed:
- btrfs-progs, if a 3.19 release is made available (currently 3.19-rc2 upstream)
- pciutils 3.3.0
Comment 9 David Walser 2015-03-12 01:10:50 CET
btrfs-progs 3.19 is now available upstream.
Comment 10 David Walser 2015-03-15 00:59:12 CET
btrfs-progs-3.19-1.mga5 uploaded by tmb.

All that remains is pciutils, if tmb thinks it's appropriate to update to 3.3.0.
Comment 11 Thomas Backlund 2015-03-15 12:12:02 CET
pciutils wont be pushed, as it breaks abi like the earlier pushed usbutils, something we dont want to repeat this late in the release process

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED

Comment 12 David Walser 2015-03-15 13:53:18 CET
OK, thanks.  That's fine.

I don't see any libraries in usbutils, but it does have a pkgconfig file and spice-gtk does BuildRequire it. Do we need to rebuild it?
