Description Manuel Hiebel 2011-05-23 10:37:55 CEST
Description of problem:
I have seen a 'preparing package installation' in a french rpmdrake
should be translated into 'preparation des packetages'or something like that

Comment 1 Rémi Verschelde 2011-05-23 12:21:04 CEST
This string is already translated in its po file:
#: ../Rpmdrake/pkg.pm:732
#, c-format
msgid "Preparing packages installation..."
msgstr "Préparation de l'installation des paquetagesâ¦"

Maybe updating the translation on the SVN wasn't enough, I will see if a push request of every software which have been localised lately is needed.

Comment 3 Manuel Hiebel 2011-05-26 22:16:59 CEST
another one 'computing unrequested orphans'
Comment 4 Rémi Verschelde 2011-05-26 22:54:43 CEST
Actually, the bug will stay unresolved until the next release of rpmdrake.
From what I understood, the translations are packed with a software when a new version of the software is packaged. So, since we are in package freeze, this bug will probably be still present in Mageia 1. It will be corrected with an update not long after the release, I suppose.
Comment 5 Rémi Verschelde 2011-06-20 20:17:07 CEST
Are these two bugs fixed in Mageia 1?
Comment 6 Manuel Hiebel 2011-06-20 20:48:56 CEST
yes for the two (os upgrade from mdv), i will check with an clean install,

still present sorry

This is because misc gratuitously change "packages" by "package" in many sentences w/o either updating po/* for not fuzzy the translations or updating po/rpmdrake.pot then po/*.po

So where are the EN .po files so the English strings can be properly fixed?

There's a continuing problem where EN strings contain incorrect plurals as well as other textual errors throughout the distribution. This is carry-over from Mandrake/Mandriva days and it's always been very obvious to native-speakers.

If the base language of the distribution is to be EN AND the developer is not a native speaker then it seems negligent that the master .po file is not checked.

Those strings don't have to be fixed just in the po files but in the code itself. But I think it would help, if you provided corrections for rpmdrake.pot.
Some developer code then fix it in the code.

I've merged the english cleanups into the translations in my local git.
