After urpmi alsa-tools, the sound works. Thanks.
For the record, I guess the bug was that envy* weren't installed any more when the proper card was detected since the package disapeared when everything got merged back into alsa-tools (which maybe an issue for live CDs where we'll got extra menu entries for things that will NOT work): * Tue Mar 08 2011 ahmad <ahmad> 1.0.24.1-1.mga1 + Revision: 66355 - adapt the main package description to the firmware split - update to 1.0.24.1 - split the firmware in a separate src.rpm (alsa-firmware) - add the appropriate obsoletes and provides to accomodate the split - put loaders in a new subpackage alsa-tools-firmware - merge all the subpackages in the main package (the packages are very small, all in all they're ~1.2MB) This was fixed in meta-task-2-4.mga2 which makes the installer to install alsa-tools instead of envy* now: * Thu Sep 08 2011 tv <tv> 1:2-4.mga2 + Revision: 141449 - fix fallout from alsa-tools merging everything back without looking at the consequences
