Description Maurice Batey 2014-01-04 15:38:31 CET
Description of problem:

After login and clicking on the 'green fan' WiFi connection icon in Panel, Network Centre shows TWO WiFi panels:

The 1st WiF panel is a dud - no SSID's shown, and if selected it shows the message:

  "Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.l/b/g/n

Unable to find network interface for selected device.
   (Using bcma driver)"

The 2nd WiFi panel is the genuine one (now labelled "wl1s0" instead of
the familiar "WLAN"), and showing local SSID's.

The dud panel will be very confusing for any newcomer to Mageia...

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

  drakx-net-2.7.1.mga4.src.rpm 28/12/13

How reproducible:

  Any time after login

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install 32-bit Mageia-4-Beta3 on Samsung NC110 netbook (Broadcom 43225 WiFi)
2. Invoke Network Centre (if already connected, click on 'green fan' icon in Panel)
3.

N.B. This was a new install of Mageia, with no explicit blacklisting of drivers.

Comment 4 Maurice Batey 2015-12-24 18:26:52 CET
Problem persists here with 32-bit Mageia-5 on same netbook.

(But does not occur on non-Broadcom WiFi on Toshiba laptop.)
Comment 5 Maurice Batey 2015-12-24 18:43:59 CET
P.S. Also persists here on Cauldron on Broadcom netbook...
Comment 6 Nic Baxter 2015-12-26 07:26:34 CET
As noted in comment 4 this only happens with the Broadcom WiFi chip so unless some else has that chip support is going to rather difficult. Since Network Centre is showing two green fans it might be two devices are detected. What does lspci show? What modules are loaded?
Comment 7 Maurice Batey 2015-12-26 19:05:26 CET
Only 1 'green fan' shows in Panel, but if go into Network Centre there is the
confusing intruding and confusing entry for 'Broadcom' showing no SSIDs
