Thanks for the report. Fixed in mga3 with kdegraphics-thumbnailers-4.10.4-2.mga3 in updates_testing. It will be part of upcoming update to KDE 4.10.5.

Installing textlive requires 1.1 Gb with all its dependencies, especially textlive-texmf which is 1.0 Gb big. If users don't pay attention to it, 1 Gb will be wasted.
I concur with Frédéric. Is texlive and its texmf absolutely essential? That 1GB seems like an awful lot of extra bloat.

For kdegraphics-thumbnailers, only texlive was added as a suggests. Unfortunately, that package currently requires texlive-texmf, which is crazy. Complaints about texlive can be collected in Bug 10673.
Thanks David. I'll do just that.
Can the kde team please revert this fix (remove the Suggests) and push it as update to mga3? This is until I can fix the texlive dependency problem. Then we can use Suggests: dvips and it will work ok.

Luc Menut has done just that, and reverted the added Suggests for texlive. I'll assign it to QA. Speak up if you have anything to add, please. Thanks. Advisory: ---------------------------------------- The recently released KDE update for Mageia 3 included a change to the kdegraphics-thumbnailers package where it suggested the texlive package, which added the ability to generate thumbnail previews of DVI files using the dvips command. Unfortunately, the texlive package requires the very large texlive-texmf package, and since the Mageia update applet installs all suggested packages, this made installing the kdegraphics-thumbnailers update problematic for some users. This update no longer lists texlive as a suggested package as a temporary workaround, so that the texlive package can be reorganized to allow the dvips command to be provided without requiring the full texlive-texmf package, at a later time. ---------------------------------------- Updated packages in core/updates_testing: ---------------------------------------- kdegraphics-thumbnailers-4.10.5-1.2.mga3 from kdegraphics-thumbnailers-4.10.5-1.2.mga3.src.rpm

Testing complete on Mageia 3 i586 and x86_64. Uninstalled texlive, then ran urpme --auto-orphans. Installed the update, observed that texlive and it's dependencies were not pulled in. Ensured dolphin could still show previews of png files. Someone from the sysadmin team please push 10388.adv to updates.

Thanks Luc and David and Dave and Thomas. We should leave the bug open until we fix it for good.

When it is fixed, the update will need a new bug report, as the way advisories are named in svn, and used to push updates, means there can only be one update pushed per bug report.
Yep, closing this to get it of the validated / not pushed list
