Description Marc Paré 2013-05-26 22:48:02 CEST
When I use the MCC to access the NFS directories on my network, there is a message that follows that says: "The following packages need to be installed: nfs-utils, nmap"; when I click OK it takes me to the next window where I can search for my nfs directories BUT without installing the missing packages.

I have installed Mageia3 on 2 desktops (64 bit) and 1 laptop (32 bit) and it occurs on all machines.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. MCC
2. Network Sharing
3. Access NFS shared drives and directories

Odd. For me it worked right now;
it asked the question, installed even more packages (dependencise i presume)
And when i clicked to search hosts it found and I configured it fully graphically
mga3-64 fully updated KDE default install + many packages, so maybe it is dependant of something i installed?

Yes strange. I just installed 3 computers with all of the same results, and, none of the computers had the same hardware.

Did you go through the same described procedure?

* MCC->NetworkSharing->Access NFS shared drives and directories?
* Then the next window says ""The following packages need to be installed: nfs-utils, nmap".
* When you click on "OK" it then takes you to the "NetworkSharing->Access NFS shared drives and directories" page without installing a package.

Yes same procedure, but here it installed several packages, verified.

BUT: if i start it again it *again* asks to install the packages, but when i click OK it skips the install - probably because the packages are already installed.

Maybe this is what you see actually?
Can you check if the packages are installed?
If so try uninstalling them, then again go to MCC->NetworkSharing->Access NFS etc and see if it installs them for you.

BTW, i believe the component actually is diskdrake (according to MCC log that is what runs)

Comment 4 Marc Paré 2013-05-30 02:33:43 CEST
Yeh ... that is it! Thanks!

So, if you install CUPS with MCC->Hardware->Set up printers ... the MCC will install nfs-utils and nmap.

If you do not install CUPS, then MCC will install nfs-utils and nmap on its own without CUPS.

The bug then is not a question as to whether these two files are installed but rather that particular window does not report back the right information as to whether nfs-utils or nmap are installed. For that particular step, these two files are reported as not being installed all the time regardless of whether they have been installed or not.

Looks like there is a bit of coding missing to make that window work properly.

Thanks for your suggestions and for helping find the problem. I guess Olivier can now look at it and maybe come up with a fix?

Cheers,

Marc

Noticed the same thing here today.

Adding some CC's

Sounds a similar-ish problem to bug 10528

Could the issue causing both actually be elsewhere?

You meant #9941 I suppose. Yes, I think drakxtools 15.54.1-2 should have fixed this bug, as it fixes package detection code.

Yes indeed, sorry, bug-blindness
Comment 9 claire robinson 2013-06-17 11:10:12 CEST
The updated drakxtools doesn't fix this issue.
