Description Morgan Leijström 2013-05-09 23:53:56 CEST
In .xsession-errors i spotted several:

"Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_r600.so: kan inte öppna delad objektfil: Filen eller katalogen finns inte"

And it is true lib64vdpau-driver-r600 is not installed.
"This packages provides a VPDAU plugin to enable video acceleration with the r600 driver."

But. r600 ? I have Radeon HD6850.
I am shifting back and forth using xorg ati driver,
and ati "Radeon HD6400 and later" (different minor problems)

I think one of them, or both? should have dependancy added to lib(64)vdpau-driver-r600 but i do not know enough to say for sure.

BTW, is there a way to make .xsession-erros have time stamps?

After manually installed lib64vdpau-driver-r600, i see in xsession-error that it is looking for libvdpau_nvidia.so instead.

Summary: Missing dependancy on libvdpau... or not needed? => Why is what looking for libvdpau?

...and now i have ununstalled that -r600 as that is probably for another chipset; there is another radeon chipset with that name.

There is no libvdpau* file in the radeon driver, but in libvdpau-driver-radeonsi . What is radeonsi? I find no thing in graphic driver selection that corresponds to that name.

What is installed, is libvdpau-driver-softpipe

I am beginning to think something is just trying what works, but why? Probably because of ib64vdpau1 that i see is installed:

ib64vdpau1 - VDPAU shared library
"The Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix (VDPAU) wrapper shared library. This library is responsible for loading the hardware-specific VDPAU driver."

Still valid on mga3 release, and X crashes: Bug 10216

But why do it try to load libvdpau for another brand?!, and i also see it reverting to slow indirect rendering, from xsession-errors:

libGL error: open uki failed (Operationen inte tillåten)
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: kan inte öppna delad objektfil: Filen eller katalogen finns inte

Obviously the graphics is not running optimally.

If i would uninstall lib64vdpau1, it would pull "everything" (KDE,...)

Why is what trying to load nvidia vdpau?

# vdpauinfo

FWIW i have another videocard now, a Nvidia, so can not test anymore.
