Description Barry Jackson 2013-05-06 23:57:18 CEST
Description of problem:
When gimp creates a new toolbox in KDE the box is only two columns of icons wide.
At this width it cannot be moved around the screen. It can in gnome.

This directly relates to:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5010
and
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=696662

gimp developer says this is a WM issue, which is borne out by the fact it does not happen in gnome with it's default WM.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run gimp
2. Drag around the toolbox to see that it works
3. Close the toolbox
4. Create a fresh toolbox with CTRL/b
5. Try to move it - it wont
6. Increase the box width until the gimp logo appears on the left end of the header bar
7. Now it will move.

Is it still valid in cauldron?

Yes.
With gimp in multi-window mode windows -> uncheck "single window mode", delete the toolbox and then use CTRL/b to create a new one.
The new one is created at only two columns wide and is immoveable. The width must be dragged out until the gimp logo appears in the toolbox header before it will drag around by the header again.

Is it an upstream bug or related to the theme we use?

Comment 4 Barry Jackson 2015-05-06 21:56:30 CEST
No idea. See comments in upstream bug report in #0, but I guess it could be theme related.
Comment 5 Samuel Verschelde 2015-05-06 23:34:02 CEST
I read the gnome bug report, but I thought you would report a bug to KDE. Testing with another theme before that could be a useful test.

@ Barry

Would you have time to do that?

otoh, we have plasma now... shouldn't this bug just be closed as old?
Comment 8 Rémi Verschelde 2016-01-19 10:59:27 CET
No KDE4 in Cauldron, so setting version to Mageia 5.

Version: Cauldron => 5

Comment 9 Barry Jackson 2016-04-05 22:20:19 CEST
Still the same in plasma in Mga6-1
Updated affected release and whiteboard.
I'm sorry I don't have time to fight upstream over this as it's not my package and I rarely use it - but this is still a minor, annoying bug.

np, but I added the UPSTREAM keyword. If you're aware of an upstream bug report, then please add the link in the "See Also:" field

Yes.
To quickly reproduce:
Open gimp
Make sure it is in single window mode (windows menu)
Close the toolbox.
CTRL/b to open a new toolbox.
Try to click/drag the toolbox by it's header.
It won't.
Widen the toolbox by dragging out one side.
Now it will click/drag by the header.
Comment 14 Barry Jackson 2020-03-19 13:45:57 CET
Just noticed an error in previous post, should be:
Make sure it is NOT in single window mode (windows menu)

Problem still exists in Mga7 with plasma.
Comment 15 Aurelien Oudelet 2021-03-08 09:55:18 CET
GIMP 2.10.22 Mageia 8

Note reproduced. Still valid?
