Description Doug Laidlaw 2013-04-22 18:36:41 CEST
Description of problem:/run/lock/news is owned by root.root permissions 755 and needs to be news.news. Leafnode can't create a lockfile and exits. I have changed it to news.news but something keeps changing it back.

Sorry, the command affected is fetchnews. "leafnode" starts the daemon, and has no lockfile.

Comment 2 Colin Guthrie 2013-04-22 23:36:26 CEST
From the Mageia 2 package:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Mar 16 2011 ./var/lock/news

So this is nothing new, but it should indeed be owned by news.news (the fedora package uses a different path for the lock file).

Anyway, fixed in svn.
