Hi Team Mageia, It's not indicated in the Wiki that is necessary to reboot the computer on the "Mageia 3 Prepare Upgrade" entry from grub https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_rc#Upgrading_online.2C_using_urpmi_.28CLI.29 This seems to happen now.
ah yes, release notes + rc upgrade procedure updated.

Okay. I don't know if it was an oversight on the wiki or just a misunderstanding on my part. So I needed a confirmation, I didn't want to edit the wiki. Thanks
Also, be aware of Bug 9534, dbus upgrades causes numerous blocked processes on upgrade from Mageia 2 to 3 (e.g. rtkit). You'll need to have an extra terminal open (as root), with htop running, and be ready to kill the dbus or dconf commands, when urpmi is waiting for them (currently gdm and rtkit are known to cause this problem. Note that the "su -" command, or starting htop, after the upgrade starts will not work, so do that before starting the upgrade (after booting from the prepare upgrade stanza). Hopefully this'll get sorted out soon.
