Description Malo Deniélou 2013-04-18 13:38:31 CEST
Description of problem:
After installing Mageia3 pre-RC KDE LiveCD, I put the computer to sleep (suspend to RAM). When the computer comes back up, the KDE panel is frozen (taskbar, menu, icons, notifications), as well as the window decorations. The inside of the applications is however fine, so is the interaction with the desktop background (right-click or icons), and Alt-Tab.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 3 pre-RC

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install KDE LiveCD, suspend to RAM
2. take the computer out of sleep
3. notice the frozen panel, as well as the frozen window decorations.

I can still reproduce strange KDE behavior after coming back from sleep.

This time I used the RC Live KDE iso on a USB stick, and directly went to sleep from the running live media. When coming back from sleep, the KDE environment is half frozen: only the click-right on the desktop works, which allows then the kde menu to open. But if I left-click on the desktop again, the KDE menu does not respond. Several other instances of such weirdness happen as well.

The laptop is a Intel based laptop, and sleep was working fine with Mageia 2.

I can't reproduce. It's working fine with system that was upgraded to cauldron from mga2.

This is the .xsession-errors I get after a resume.

Works ok here, provided I use xdriver=vesa. If I let it default
to fglrx, on resume, bug 8049 causes the display to go blank,
and I have to switch to another tty, login, and run service dm
restart. First time I've tried using suspend to ram on a
desktop system. I'm impressed at the speed of both shutdown
and restart.

I tried on another intel laptop, but couldn't reproduce ...
I also tried with Gnome on the laptop exhibiting the problem, but I can't reproduce ...
This is really weird and annoying since I can consistently reproduce it on the one laptop, even with the liveRC (meaning no personal configuration).
I will decrease priority if it's just me ...

Hi Malo. Does it still happen with Mageia 5RC?

No reply and, apart from this question, no activity in this report since May 2013, closing as OLD

Feel free to reopen if the issue is still valid in Mga5 or cauldron.
