I upgraded a Mageia 2 desktop VM running in VMWare ESXi to Cauldron on Friday, and had an issue with Plasma that I also saw when I tested upgrading to Cauldron in January right before the mass rebuild. The VM itself started its life as Mandriva 2010.1 and has been upgraded to Mageia 1 and then Mageia 2. The KDE configuration has been modified little if any by me, so it's pretty close to the defaults in Mageia 2. The issue is that some things that pop out of the panel have a transparent background, making the text practically unreadable. Examples include clicking the triangle in the system tray to show the hidden system tray icons, the widget that pops up then; the pop-up widget when you click on the Device Notifier system tray icon; and the tooltip that pops up when you just hover the mouse over a system tray icon. In my January upgrade tests, I also saw this issue in my Virtualbox VM at home, but repeating that test now doesn't show this issue there, so it may be harder to reproduce now, but it still can happen. I confirm this as well. The one I notice the most is the popup for the KNetworkManager systray icon.

I guess that it's due to the plasma cache. It will be cleaned by kde4-firstsetup.sh at next login. So, this should be fixed with mageia-kde4-config-common-3-0.20130423.1.mga3, after reconnection. Feel free to reopen if needed.
