Description Roy Dammer 2013-04-13 04:58:58 CEST
Description of problem: Using Inkscape as is from Mageia it does not write to a PDF.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Inkscape Version: 0.48.4-1.mga2

How reproducible: easy

Steps to Reproduce:as above
1.Install Inkscape
2.Try to write to an existing pdf, it does not
3.

The trick is, you need to install pdf2svg first. After that, you can open pdfs (inkscape converts them to svgs, and makes font substitutions according to what you have installed), and either select an object and "ungroup" it, or you can use the node selection tool (looks like a skinny triangle pointing at a circle inside a curve), to select individual objects for editing.

pdf2svg should be added to inkscape to the basic install. That way everybody who installs inkscape normally will benefit.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Is this bug still valid in Mageia 5 or Cauldron?

Shlomi, what is your opinion as Inkscape maintainer?

Inkscape seems to be able to load and save from/to a PDF fine on Mageia Cauldron x86-64, without having a pdf2svg in the path. So I'm closing this bug as WORKSFORME.
