Description Scott Westlake 2013-04-03 06:29:08 CEST
Description of problem:
cannot deselect package group items

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
i586 beta3 dvd

How reproducible:
Choose 'custom' for the screen when says 'KDE', 'GNOME', 'Custom', and choose 'custom, click next

Next screen, 'Package group selection', choose 'Individual package selection'
(the checkmarks work on this screen), click next

'Software management' screen, expand 'Graphical Environment', and unselect LXDE Desktop. A message pops up

This popup says "The following packages are going to be installed abiword,...
"

.. Also the Total size: xxxx / MB status message indicates changes, but the check/uncheckmarks never toggle on 'Software Management' screen

(I noticed that on the 'Graphical Environment', everything is checkmarked starting from it's nodal point even though I chose 'Custom' on the desktop selection screen about 2 screens prior)

I'm able to reproduce this bug..

Choose 'Custom', and on 'Packge group selection' unselect everything except for 'LXDE' and 'individual package selection'

On the next screen of 'Sofware management, expand 'Graphical Environment' and notice that all the desktops are selected. I only selected 'LXDE' :o oh ohh!!

Though all the Desktop types show selected-- I clicked on 'Kde Workstation' and it prompts if I want to add new install items, I confirm to comply and the checkmark remains the same. Now I tried to unselect the checkmark and a new message shows 'You cannot select/unselect this package \n kmediafactory-0.8.1-1.mga3.i586, libreoffice-report-builder-4.0.2.1-1.mga3.i586'

alright.. if this ever really matters.. on post-install I'm checking out the Desktops available from the menu

'
Default
LXDE
drak3d
Openbox
IceWM
'

If i remember correctly for this setup pertained separately than the previous posts above, I chose 'Choose custom, and on next screen unselect everything, except LXDE'

That's a 3 states check button:
- unselected (no pkg is selected)
- semi-selected (only some pkgs are selected)
- selected (all pkgs are selected)

By default only some packages are selected in that group.
If you click one, it selects everything, hence the message you see
If you click once more, as everything is already selected, it deselect everything (and a new popup message appears (the "following pkgs are going to be removed...").
Actually for that group, there's some unselectable pkgs (eg: monitor-edid) because they're part of basesystem, so you only flip between semi-selected & selected states.
You can check with any group, by selecting a couple pkgs, you got in semi-selected mode, and they you can switch between the 3 states by clicking on the _group_ checkbox

Maybe we could use colors for better differenciate semi-selected & selected cases
