User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/20101209 SeaMonkey/2.0.11 Build Identifier: Description of problem: I choose English installation. But during post-install configuration (summary), I make the country of residence The Netherlands. This triggers install of package locales-nl. Okay. But during the install of this package, the "details" screen showing the process above gives the summary in French: "Fichiers de base pour la localisation en langue neerlandaise". I would understand English or Dutch, but French is not expected. (I have nothing against French, but it seems not appropriate here). This was previosuly reported and fixed in mdv as: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=32870 So it is sort of a regression. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
Well, I don't why this bug happens... note that Pixel didn't ever say he fixed it (the typo he fixed as stated in https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=32870#c8 is obviously fixed in the locales package in Mageia too).... (I'll wait till the install@ alias is created to re-assign the bug).

I can't easily try to reproduce :( Something I noticed is that the package contains translated summary and description (which we usually don't do, we have translations in po files). So, based on your report, the translation comes from the rpm and not the install code. I think we should get rid of translations in the package, that would give us the consistent (across packages) translations from the po and avoid this problem. But there is indeed a bug somewhere if we get wrong translation. How did you install, so that I check metadata there?
From synthesis on the dvd: @info@efax-0.9a-15.mga1.i586@0@190639@Communications @provides@locales-nl[== 2.12.1-3.mga1]@locales-nl(x86-32)[== 2.12.1-3.mga1] @requires@locales[== 2.12.1-3.mga1]@/bin/sh[*]@/bin/sh[*] @summary@Fichiers de base pour la localisation en langue néerlandaise @filesize@28659 @info@locales-nl-2.12.1-3.mga1.i586@0@24364@System/Internationalization @provides@hyphen-hu[== 0.20090612-1.mga1] @requires@hyphen It seems it includes the translated summary when generating synthesis, as iso was built with French locale :(
I think genhdlist needs to be fixed to include untranslated info, but meanwhile iso should be generated from C locale.

It doesn't matter which way I install, I see it in every kind I tried (which is nearly every type several times).
It should not happen when using network install, only when using CD or DVD, as the problem is in iso generation.
Network install is just about the only kind I didn't try !

No this bug is fixed. What you're reporting is another bug: the fact that the build servers use an older genhdlist2. Do you confirm?
I believe you, but this is beyond my tiny brain: your fix is > 2 months ago!

To be pedantic, the original bug report is still valid, it is about the synthesis files being incorrect on installation DVD. Only one of its causes is fixed right now. A fixed genhdlist package should be installed on the images build server, likely rabbit. Reassigning to sysadmin team.

That's weird, it seems genhdlist2 has not been updated on valstar.mageia.org
Yes well, I did 3 separate alpha3 installs and each was consistently in English :)

(In reply to comment #19) > That's weird, it seems genhdlist2 has not been updated on valstar.mageia.org That's rabbit which is important for isos, and which is installed in French.

Pinging, because nothing has happened with this report for more than 3 months, it still has the status REOPENED. Is it still valid?
