Description AL13N 2013-03-17 10:01:00 CET
this message appears as first message after booting a kvm install (first boot)

Failed to access perfctr msr (MSR c0010001 is ffffffffffffffff)

then a few systemd message with the last three being:

[FAILED] Failed to start Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit.
[ OK ] Reached Multiuser target
[ OK ] Reached Graphical target

after that, nothing happens....

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 AL13N 2013-03-17 10:03:47 CET
i can go into vt2 and login nongraphically there...
Comment 2 AL13N 2013-03-17 11:03:22 CET
X logfile mentions that cirrus driver can't be loaded since it's in used by other driver.

but cirrus kernel module is loaded...

switching to qxl: ABI does not match (12) version does not match server version (13). (host system is mga2)

switching to vga: success.

installing a cauldron VM via KVM seems to be quite the hassle.
Comment 3 AL13N 2013-05-01 15:21:38 CEST
still in Mageia 3, perhaps we need an errata for this...

Priority: Normal => release_blocker

Comment 4 AL13N 2013-05-05 15:04:14 CEST
added to errata

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => WONTFIX
