Description of problem: Today rpmdrake offered me some updates including nvidia304.84 and kernel-3.8.3. After installing the updates and rebooting the system (which is configured to start the x.org stuff automatically) I ended up at the command line. Trying to load the nvidia module manually via "modprobe nvidia" failed with an error message complaining about unresolved symbols. I had to run the following commands to get back a working graphical environment: 1. dkms build -m nvidia304 -v 304.84-1.mga3.nonfree 2. dkms install -m nvidia304 -v 304.84-1.mga3.nonfree --force Now my KDE dsktop is back, however the virtual terminals are now broken. Pressing STRG+ALT+F2...6 simply results in a black screen. Additionally, during shutdown the splash screen is completely messed up. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dkms-nvidia304.84-1.mga3.nonfree nvidia304-kernel-3.8.3-desktop-1.mga3 nvidia304-kernel-desktop-latest x11-driver-video-nvidia304 kernel-desktop-3.8.3-1.mga3รข Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:

This seems to be a problem of the nvidia driver 304.84 itself: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/534599/linux/-304-84-when-switching-from-x-session-to-tty-1-6-display-gets-no-signal/
