Description Antonio Ibáñez 2013-03-12 20:24:14 CET
Description of problem:
I installed steam with 'urpmi steam' and after that, I uninstalled it with 'urpme steam' and 'urpme --auto-orphans'.
Then, when I boot my PC I have to startx manually because kdm doesn't work.

Even I have unistalled and installed kdm again, but doesn't work.

any errors in /var/log/kdm.log ?

what does have orphans removed ? it should likely not be related to steam

Comment 2 Antonio Ibáñez 2013-03-13 14:35:32 CET
/var/log/kdm.log returns:

The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

Warning: Compat map for group 2 redifined
         Using new definition

Warning: Compat map for group 3 redifined
         Using new definition

Warning: Compat map for group 4 redifined
         Using new definition

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X sever
This text is repeated 5 times. Finally, the log ends with:

"Server terminated succesfully (0). Closing log file"

Could not reproduce on Mageia 3 stable. Most likely you hit another issue unrelated to Steam, making that you had a vital package for KDM marked as an orphan (prior to removing Steam).

Closing as invalid.
