In the forums someone reported a similar issue with an ACER 5750z (MGA2)

Same behaviour on my Acer-7750.

Comment 28 Wolfgang Bornath 2012-07-09 15:30:50 CEST
Same behavior on my Samsung R530:
Fn + special keys show a bar which changes according to key strokes but the screen brightness does not change.

Other Fn shortcuts like volume and play/pause/next (in Amarok) work fine.

We must observe that each laptop manufacturer is cooking his own soup, changing even between different models of the same brand. This is what makes things complicated.

There are quite a lot of bugs about brightness.
Should they be consolidated (dupes?)
or should we make a tracker bug for all?
