Description Joseph Wang 2013-02-24 11:28:14 CET
When I boot with kernel-desktop-3.8.0-2.mga3-1-1.mga3 on my VERDE radeonsi, the machine locks on boot. This did not happen with rc7.1
Comment 1 Joseph Wang 2013-02-24 11:28:56 CET
Adding the boot parameter nomodeset causes the boot to proceed.

grub2. This could be a kernel issue, and I'll try it this evening with the latest setup.
Comment 4 Manuel Hiebel 2013-03-13 01:53:29 CET
ok I was thinking of a duplicate of bug 8540 where display_driver_helper is called and add noksmboot in grub and not yet in grub2, but it seems not to be related (at least I can't found anything which add it even in grub)

Joseph, did you manage to try again? Have you looked at bug 8540? Thanks!

According to comment #0, it's explicitely a kernelk regression.

Try booting with "splash" and "quiet" boot parameters removed to see if you get any additional information on-screen.

Thanks.
