Description Olivier Mondoloni 2013-02-18 18:37:10 CET
Description of problem:

Install the boinc-manager package.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

I have tested the following version of the package ( 7.0.28-1 and 7.0.36-2 )

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the boinc-manager package
2. Launch the Boinc Manager
3. It don't access to the localhost boinc-client ( at the right bottom of the advanced view principal window, we have disconnected state ).

Possible workaround:
modify the /var/lib/boinc-client/gui_rpc_auth.cfg file and deleted the default password ( let it blank ).
restart the boinc-client and now you have access to it with the Boinc Manager .

Created attachment 3560 [details]
boinc_guirpcauth.patch file from boinc-client-7.0.28-1.mga2.src.prm

This patch has been fixed to permit users from boinc group to access to the client.
The permission for the /var/lib/boinc/gui_rpc_auth.cfg file is now 660 not 600 .
This bug has been resolved now .

The above patch works also perfectly with the 7.0.36-2 version of boinc-client package.
Comment 3 Olivier Mondoloni 2013-03-01 16:07:46 CET
Don't forget to add your user account to the boinc group .

When will it be possible to close the bug and to validate the fix ?

"Don't forget to add your user account to the boinc group"
Yes, took me a while to figure out.
Could that info become packaged in a post-install message?
Or so it is shown when starting boinc-manager?

"When will it be possible to close the bug and to validate the fix ?"
I am running the later version you made, see bug 9108

I think we should better work on getting the later version .65-2 finished,
but i can downgrade and test .36-2 if you think there are too much problems with the later.

I also think that I could be great if the 7.0.65 version of boinc could be published at the same time of the Mageia 3 out.

Thanks Damien.

Everyone, please report your testing results on Bug 12129.

From mga#12129:

boincmgr -n localhost -d /var/lib/boinc

works fine (with the rpcauth patch). I am closing this bug, feel free to reopen if it does not work.

cheers,
chris.
