After upgrading from Mageia 2 to Mageia 3 Beta 2 using the 4GB x86_64 DVD the splash screen has been changed from the solar theme I had applied to a very basic CentOS like splash theme, and it says Mageia 2 in the lower right hand corner rather than Mageia 3 I realize bugs are to be expected, and am filing this bug in accordance with the spirit of the Beta process. It is obviously not a show stopper, but it also seems like it should be fairly easy to fix. At the very least the "2" should be changed to "3", but it would be even better if the script also used plymouth-set-default-theme to determine the current theme and reuse it for the --rebuild-initrd

After looking at things more closely, it seems that my old kernel from Mageia 2 says it is booting version 2, while the kernel I built from source that has mga3 in the version string says version 3. So it would seem that the rebuild of the initrd is determining Mageia version based on the kernel version rather than from /etc/version, though I am not certain this is what is going on. In any case the Mageia version is obviously 3 even if the kernel has been hanging around since the upgrade. I am merely offering this information in hopes that it makes the issue easier to track down.

Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago. http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/ Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia and reopen this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. -- The Mageia Bugsquad
