traditional installer DVD, i586, of around noon today, won't boot on a Lenovo 3000J desktop and a IBM R50e ThinkPad laptop

It gives 
"Error reading config file", tries to boot again, gives the same error etc.

dorsync said the checksums were OK, K3B verified the DVD and found it to be OK
