Description Tom Massimi 2012-12-30 01:14:59 CET
Description of problem:

I was looking if a defect about grubin MGA3 was already inserted in bugzilla,
so I went in the search form https://bugs.mageia.org/query.cgi
and made a search for 'grub' with selected

product=mageia
version=caldrun
target=mageia3

As I had only two hits and nothing similar to mime,
I added a new defect, which has been declared "fixed as dupe".

If I do a search with only

product=mageia
version=caldrun

it returns a lot of defects, so the field "target" is changing the queries.

In the page of the defect I missed

(https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8463)

the field target is named 'target milestone',
the link to its help points to nothing
(https://bugs.mageia.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#target_milestone)

and it is setted to the value "---".

I think that if a defect has in the target field the unspecified value "---" setted, all the query with a valid target field should consider it

We (mageia)use as default nothing for this field, so for searching you should not set it.
The bugsquad set it sometime to have a better view but maybe we should change it as default for every release I don't know, but you are the first users which report this.
Comment 2 Tom Massimi 2013-01-01 18:20:46 CET
if so, you should at least add a note like "for bugsquad only" to that field,
so that other users will not use it.
Comment 3 Frédéric "LpSolit" Buclin 2013-02-24 23:02:18 CET
There is no need to hack this part of the code. Now when you report a new bug, Bugzilla will first suggest you some possible bugs matching what you enter in the bug summary. Adding "for bugsquad only" to the target milestone field is of no help.
