Description David Walser 2012-12-29 19:29:52 CET
I have KNotes running in the system tray. I also have a note on the desktop, which is hidden, with some text on it. It gets shown if you click the KNotes tray icon.

On Mageia 2, KNotes is missing an icon in the system tray, so it's just a blank spot.

Also, every time I log in to Kde in Mageia 2, a KResource Migration dialog popups up saying something about knotes.

I just rebooted a few more times, and now I do have the KNotes icon show correctly in the system tray. It still does the KResource migration every time I log in though.

The resource migration thing says something like creating type akonadi_akoknotes and it freezes all of plasma for about half a minute :o(

Missing icon and resource migration issues reproduced on another machine.
Comment 6 Nicolas Lécureuil 2013-01-02 00:41:24 CET
can you provide the real "akonadi_akoknotes" error message ?
Comment 7 David Walser 2013-01-02 00:51:15 CET
I believe it's this:
"Creating instance of type akonadi_akonotes_resource"

In Mageia 2?
Comment 10 David Walser 2013-09-06 04:11:02 CEST
I just upgraded to Mageia 3. The tray icon is missing again, and I got that migration dialog again. Running knotes from a terminal does not bring up the note that I have saved. We'll see what happens next time I log in.

This was true the first three times I logged in. This is now the fourth time I've logged in since upgrading to Mageia 3, and I did not get the migration dialog and my tray icon has returned, with my saved note intact.

Nice to hear. So it looks like it's fixed in Mageia 3 but could be in Mageia 2 too if we provide an update with that patch.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Closing this now due to Mageia 2 EOL.
