Description of problem: mplayer window is all blank I installed that kernel on my not-virtual MGA2 installation, and I see that mplayer cannot play any movies (I can hear the sound, but nothing is painted) Booting with 3.3.8MGA2 let mplayer works regularly I have MGA3 on vmware with the same kernel and also there mplayer doesn't work (host system was MGA2 with kernel 3.7.1) Intel video card (i915 driver) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-desktop-3.7.1-1.mga3-1-1.mga3 How reproducible: everytime Steps to Reproduce: 1.choose your preferred movie 2.prepare popcorns 3.run mplayer maybe helps to know that kernek 3.7 had a regression like this one http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1211.2/00895.html

I have some news about this bug: - if I run mplayer -vo X11 filename.avi (or filename.mp4, the only 2 file type I have tested) I can see the video, but that parameter was not necessary on MGA2. more, I have asked to confirm the bug on the forum but it seems that this problem happens only on my machine (https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4100) - I'm running kernel 3,.7.0 and not 3.7.1 as the latest kernel is installed but it has no entry on the grub menu (see https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4113 for details). ASAP I'll retry with kernel 3.7.1

kernel 3.7 isn't supported in Mageia 2, but if this happens with Cauldron that's a problem. Sounds like a problem with XVideo (xv) on your video card.
