Description of problem: 1.First:In Mageia 2 apparently the X server is now running on tt1: [vatbier@alpha ~]$ ps -A | grep X 1050 tty1 00:03:19 X So after pressing ctrl+alt+f2 I had to press ctrl+alt+f1 to get back to KDE. 2.In Mageia 2 I cannot switch from X (in KDE) to a text terminal: ctrl+alt+f2 makes my lcd monitor turn off (from f2 to f12). Googling around I find that with proprietary nvidia drivers (I have a GeForce 8800 GTS) virtual terminals do not work: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/archive/index.php/t-279718.html: "It's a known issue with the geforce 8 series http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=173214" But I don't know yet if it has been fixed with newer drivers yet. So upstream nvidia has to fix it but I'm not sure if I dare install the latest nvidia drivers myself from nvidia.com.
