Description of problem: I recently was installing Mageia 3 Beta 1. I partitioned the disk formatted the partition as ext4. Installed the system, then when it came time to configure the system, I choose to install grub2, set time zone etc. When I proceeded the installation of grub 2 failed, but the installer did not kick me back to the configuration state so I could try installing another boot loader, instead the process continued on. Afterwards I tried using the CD to rescue the system, at which point I found grub2 could not be installed because "the directory /boot/grub would not be available to grub at boot." I am not sure if this was because the directory was formatted as ext 4 or for some other reason. But if the installation of the boot loader fails it might be good to back up a step and try to let the user reconfigure. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 3 beta 1. How reproducible: I haven't yet try to reproduce. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Dump install dvd to usb stick. 2. Use usb stick to install, format main partition as ext4. 3. Choose to install grub2 and continue.
where have you installed grub2 on the mdr, on / ? can you also provide your file /root/drakx/report.bug as an attachment and iirc, nothing was done yet in the rescue to work with grub2
