Description Bit Twister 2012-12-22 07:33:45 CET
Description of problem:

fglrx/vendor proprietary not installed for ATI Radeon HD 4870 and earlier cards

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. use XFdrake to set the video server.
2. pick ATI Radeon HD 4870 and earlier cards and note only the radeon driver
  is installed.

If that is because AMD/ATI no longer supports 4870 and earlier cards then
the errata document needs to warn users that video performance may be three to four times slower.

example teapot Frames Per Second results on my wb node.
teapot_wb_2011 134/188 FPS
teapot_wb_mga2 183/186 FPS
teapot_wb_mga3 51/55 FPS

Getting about 53 FPS average on
    wb2 RV710 [Radeon HD 4350] GPU R700
    mtv RS780L [Radeon HD 3000]
    wb RS880 [Radeon HD 4200] GPU R700
nodes. :-(

This is because the latest fglrx no longer supports older cards. See bug 7346 for a request to support the legacy fglrx driver.
