That took me into the 'bug report' scenario, which I followed - in case it might be of interest to someone. Although I still have TDE installed on a secondary system (for trial purposes), I have stopped using it because of the impossible behaviour of its KMail. So this bug does not affect me any more (using the same game (KPatience) under the KDE regime of Mandriva 2010.2 and Mageia-2 & 3Alpha, there is no such problem). I therefore assume it is a TDE problem.
