Photography of the frozen screen - 2 led flashing (49.29 KB, image/png)

Description Pierre Jarillon 2012-12-09 01:45:26 CET
I have found the problem on
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz with mga1
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz with mga2

The keyboard has no active keys, magic keys do not work. Two led of the keyboard are continuously flashing. The other LED (numlock) which was active stops definitively.
The cursor of the mouse disappears, the ethernet link is out of service. It is impossible to investigate. Only the reset key works.

This happens often when a USB key is inserted in an USB slot. A big USB key seems to make the freeze easy.

After a full lock, I made a hard reset and during the new boot, I press Esc to see the boot sequence. Few time later, the same lock occurs. I made a photography of the screen.

We would need a photo of the full trace (yours only show its first line at bottom)
BUT 2.6.38 kernel is from mga1, however Mga1 is no more supported since it has reached end of life.
See http://blog.mageia.org/en/2012/12/02/mageia-1-eol/
Also do no try to cheat by setting version to "Mageia 2" when it's clearly "Mageia 1"

It was nos possible to see anything else: ALL WAS FROZEN.
This is the first time I could have a trace of the freeze.

I do not cheat: I had once or twice the same problem with my second PC which runs Mageia2 and Cauldron but as with my first PC which runs Mageia1, there is no trace in log files. If a ssh link is established with another PC to investigate, it is stopped when the PC freezes.
This photography is the only trace I could see on both PC.

Your photo shows clearly that the system that crashed was running kernel-2.6.38 which is Mageia 1 which we don't support anymore. Period.
