Description of problem: The input of my sound card does not work. I installed alsa-tools, alsa-firmware, etc... I temporarily disabled Pulse Audio (until I find a solution working both with Alsa and Pulse Audio). I opened Alsa Mixer GUI but there is no "line" option, I see PCM, Master, Digital (which seems to be used for the microphone) but no "line". Changing "Capture" does not solve my problem. I succeeded in adding the "line" control into kmix but I still hear nothing from the input. I tried that in command line: [gouessej@localhost ~]$ grep sound /etc/modprobe.conf alias sound-slot-0 snd_hda_intel [gouessej@localhost ~]$ amixer -c0 Simple mixer control 'Master',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 31 Mono: Front Left: Playback 31 [100%] [0.00dB] [on] Front Right: Playback 31 [100%] [0.00dB] [on] Simple mixer control 'PCM',0 Capabilities: pvolume Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 255 Mono: Front Left: Playback 255 [100%] [0.00dB] Front Right: Playback 255 [100%] [0.00dB] Simple mixer control 'LFE',0 Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined Playback channels: Mono Limits: Playback 0 - 31 Mono: Playback 31 [100%] [0.00dB] [on] Simple mixer control 'Capture',0 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Capture 0 - 15 Front Left: Capture 15 [100%] [22.50dB] [on] Front Right: Capture 15 [100%] [22.50dB] [on] Simple mixer control 'Digital',0 Capabilities: cvolume Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Capture 0 - 120 Front Left: Capture 120 [100%] [30.00dB] Front Right: Capture 120 [100%] [30.00dB] Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 Capabilities: cenum Items: 'Front Mic' 'Rear Mic' 'Line' Item0: 'Line' Simple mixer control 'Mux',0 Capabilities: cvolume Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Capture 0 - 4 Front Left: Capture 4 [100%] [40.00dB] Front Right: Capture 4 [100%] [40.00dB] [gouessej@localhost ~]$ pacmd ls Welcome to PulseAudio! This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life. Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- The Mageia Bugsquad
Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia and reopen this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. -- The Mageia Bugsquad
