Hello, With Mageia 1, when I create an bootable usb key, I have 2 partitions I use the command dd if="path of iso" of=/dev/sdX bs=8M Périphérique Amorce Début Fin Blocs Id Système /dev/sdc1 1269760 62816255 30773248 b W95 FAT32 /dev/sdc2 * 1 1269759 634879+ 17 HPFS/NTFS masquée The name of the first partition (sdc1) is resize me The bootable partition is sdc2 If I put the key in a computer on windows, I can read and store data on sdc1 without problems. With Mageia 2 or Mageia 3, when I create a bootable key I Have that : Périphérique Amorce Début Fin Blocs Id Système /dev/sdc1 * 1 1380351 690175+ 17 HPFS/NTFS masquée /dev/sdc2 1380352 2045951 332800 b W95 FAT32 The bootable partition is sdc1 and Windows can't see and mount sdc2. It just want to format sdc1, who is normally hiden ?! Is it possible for the next iso of Mageia to retrieve the fonctionnality of the Mageia 1 iso ? I want to use the second part to store data on my key at my job (on windows). Thanks
know nothing about that

Hello, I just try to make a Live usb with the live CD Mageia3-beta 1 KDE, and the problem subsist ! Same problems as above. have a nice day.
I realise that this bug is now 2 years old, but the same behaviour is still apparent with Mageia 4. It really restricts the usefulness of having a Mageia live USB stick if it can't be used as an ordinary USB key. Is there any chance of this being changed back?

I don't ever recall having the possibility to create a booting USB stick while still using it as a read/write data storage medium.
Yes, we used to create the "resize me" partition... but iirc the feature broke by a newer isohybrid, and no-one has really had time / interest in debugging / fixing it... I do have some ideas but as usual the problem is finding the time...

Closing as OLD because this bug saw no action since over a year ago. Please reopen if it is still valid with Mageia6sta1 or newer
