Description of problem:
When install Mageia 1 beta 1 I try to change the flat panel resolution and when I then hit the testbutton the screen get black and it never returned back to the default reseloution

Is this still valid with latest cauldron?

If it's still valid, please post the output of 'lspcidrake -v'.

Assuming that after the bug happens you restart the display server, attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old after restarting it.
