Description claire robinson 2012-11-05 17:56:39 CET
pre-3alpha3 Default gnome installation from the 64 bit classic installer dvd (date.txt Nov 4th)

When the screen has locked due to inactivity the clock displays.

Lifting the clock up it shows gdm login screen but in yellow text it says 'Authentication error' and the clock drops down again when the click is released.

I can manage to prevent the clock from dropping by clicking quickly into the password box but it won't allow me to enter anything in there and 'Unlock' has no effect.

I've not personally been able to replicate this :s

Not present on installed i586 LiveDVD, I'll try 64bit live later.

Also I've yet to check i586 installer dvd to see if its just a 64bit bug.

Valid i586 classic installer dvd (date.txt Nov 3rd)

The installer dvd's have an issue with X at the moment, so I'm using modprobe nouveau and startx in tty2.

Could that be the cause of this?
Comment 5 Colin Guthrie 2012-11-06 16:25:13 CET
Yeah that could certainly be related... it should work of course :)

Do you do the same thing on the x86_64 or do they start X OK? If you do the same thing on those does the same behaviour that affects i586 occur?

duplicate of https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7687 ?
Comment 7 claire robinson 2012-11-06 18:34:23 CET
Both i586 and x86_64 have problems starting X at the moment Colin. Both DVD's and dualcd in all desktops. bug 7982

Manuel it's similar, may be related. I'm not sure bug 7687 had the Authentication error message though and it's now impossible to enter a password. The Unlock button has no effect.

I'll have to let Colin decide if it's a duplicate.
