Description Renaud Michel 2012-11-02 17:30:10 CET
Description of problem:

After upgrading to mageia 2, it is not possible anymore to use xine to connect to vdr via its xineliboutput plugin.
The xine window will show a "no signal" message and nothing more, and on some conditions seem to enter an infinite loop.

It seems to be an incompatibility between xineliboutput on vdr side which is at version 1.1.0 while xine-xvdr is still 1.0.6.
There is a xine1.2-xvdr which is also 1.1.0 (in fact, that one comes from the same SRPM than vdr-plugin-xineliboutput), but xine-ui is compiled against xine-lib 1.1

I tried compiling xine-ui (0.99.7 from cauldron) against xine-lib 1.2, which works, that way it will use xine1.2-xvdr. With that it can connect properly to vdr, show the program and interract with the menu.

So either the package xine-xvdr should be updated to the same 1.1.0 as the rest of xineliboutput, or xine-ui should be compiled against xine-lib 1.2 (why isn't it anyway?)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

vdr-1.7.25-1.mga2
vdr-plugin-xineliboutput-1.1.0-0.cvs20120225.3.mga2
xine-ui-0.99.6-4.mga2
xine-xvdr-1.0.6-1.mga2
xine1.2-xvdr-1.1.0-0.cvs20120225.3.mga2
lib64xine1-1.1.19-9.mga2.tainted
lib64xine2-1.2.1-1.mga2.tainted

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
