@ Achmad

Are you aware this bug was assigned to you on 2011-03-15 ?

Ahmad is 'off' since some weeks, so reassign to bugsquad (as there is no maintainer yet)

@ Dan Joita

Is the problem still there, in current cauldron or mageia 1 official?

Thanks for checking :)

* You tried now with Mageia 1 official, which you installed freshly from DVD, am I correct?

I understand that there were two issues at first:
1 the missing transparency for the panels in xfce
2 not getting the wallpaper you chose

* Issue 2 wasn't solved. Is the missing transparency issue still there, too?
Comment 7 Dan Joita 2011-11-03 09:02:28 CET
since i can see the mageia wallpaper, i guess the transparency works
Comment 8 Marja Van Waes 2011-11-03 11:54:23 CET
I just tried with xfce:

when I choose opacity = 0, no light comes through the panel, so the panel is black, as it should be.
when I choose opacity = 255, a lot of light comes through the panel and it becomes as bright as can be.

So you're right, opacity works fine, now

To change the wallpaper, I right clicked on my desktop, chose background, went to the directory where my pictures are and chose a nice one.

It immediately became the wallpaper, also known as backgrond, of my desktop

So I can't reproduce that problem here.

transparancy

I have a screenshoot of my walpaper, the lxpanel and the mageia walpaper under the lxpanel.

Thanks a lot, a picture says more than 1000 words :)

I'll change the version of Mga to 1, because you mailed me you were testing this in 1 and would update to cauldron later.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no one to assign this bug to.

Summary: transparency doesn't work properly in xfce4-panel => wrong (default Mageia) background visible through panel in xfce

Comment 11 Dan Joita 2011-11-03 16:29:35 CET
lxde not xfce

> lxde not xfce

So the original summary
"transparency doesn't work properly in xfce4-panel"
was never correct at all!

In the description you are indeed talking about lxde, I'll adjust the summary.

And there is a maintainer for lxpanel, so I'll assign to him

@ Oliver

There was some confusion about this bug, because the summary was about xfce4 and it was filed against xfce4-panel, but all the time (see description) it was about lxde and lxpanel. There's a nice screenshot attached.

I take it, the screenshot is from a freshly installed Mageia 1?
And you started with a standard configuration of LXDE? No old settings from Mandriva or whatever imported?

Comment 14 Dan Joita 2011-11-04 00:01:12 CET
yes fresh and updated
Comment 15 Oliver Burger 2011-11-07 11:32:47 CET
Seems to be a bug related to pcmanfm, not lxpanel:
http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1651

I'm looking into it.
Comment 16 Oliver Burger 2011-11-23 22:29:08 CET
@zezinho : According to upstream this seems to be a problem with pcmanfm, not lxpanel. Could you check?

Comment 17 José Jorge 2011-11-24 17:51:44 CET
I have just tried with xguest user, in a lxde session, and could not reproduce : there is no option to make the bar transparent to the background, only transparent to a choosen color.
Comment 18 José Jorge 2011-11-24 18:21:38 CET
And as talked in the lxde forum, it seems normal with pcmanfm 0.9.7 : they talk about a change in the transparency behaviour. I think we should close this bug as it is not a bug for upstream.

options

In this case, why did it work with Mandriva? Maybe the option should make the pannel transparent to the background.

Because it was with older versions.

This should be discussed upstream, we only package.
Comment 21 Oliver Burger 2011-11-24 20:05:48 CET
No, in Cauldron you can make lxpanel transparent to the background.

Just go to the pannel settings choose the solid color and change opacity to 0, then you get opacity to the background.

This does work in Cauldron and it does not in Mga 1, no matter if taking lxpanel-0.5.6 from Mga1 or a backported lxpanel-0.5.8 from Cauldron.
The difference is the pcmanfm version.
Comment 22 Dan Joita 2011-11-25 19:09:53 CET
all right, so i should test the beta
Comment 23 Oliver Burger 2012-03-01 07:40:12 CET
This is a minor optical bug, that is fixed upstream in newer versions. So it is no problem in Mga2.
