My wireless worked fine under kernel 3.5.5-desktop-0.rc1.1.mga3. This morning I upgraded cauldron, and the wireless stopped working when I rebooted. If I boot the same system, but with the grub entry for the 3.5.5 kernel, all is well again. Under 3.6.2, ifplugd tries to bring up wlan0 and reports an immediate "link beat not detected" (immediate as within the same second in syslog).
Are you using mdv tools to configure wlan, or NetworkManager ? I see the issue when configured with mdv tools, but not with NM.

I'm using the MDV tools. I have never been able to get this wireless NIC working with NM. Oddly enough, the symptom under NM used to be exactly the same - immediate "link beat not detected", although in that case about a second later the driver would report link beat but NM would already have deactivated the interface. There are other bug reports about rtl8192se and NM which have never (I don't think) been closed, so possibly one of the others who commented there might be able to test. I'm afraid that due to a helpful dog, the DC power jack on this machine has separated from the mainboard, so I have no way to do further testing at this point until it is repaired, which will probably take 3-4 weeks.
