Description Dr House 2011-04-11 18:59:24 CEST
Description of problem:
During a fresh install of Mageia Beta 1, the installer stops and the system shuts down at the point where the installer is (presumably) examining the system for other linux distributions.

Once the installer crashes and the system shuts down, it is possible to complete the install by rebooting and choosing to "upgrade" the existing installation. The rest of the installation proceeds without error.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia Beta 1

How reproducible:
This is a difficult question. Clearly, others have successfully installed Mageia Beta 1. But I have reproduced this error three times on my test machine.

So, to the extent that the error depends on my configuration, the only thing I can think to mention is that this disk contains roughly a dozen different linux distros on it, each with its own GRUB menu on the first sector of its respective partition.

NOTE: I am categorizing this as a Critical bug, based on the criterion that is crashes the system. However, no data is lost as a result of this bug.

Steps to Reproduce:

For what it's worth, I cannot reproduce this bug in Beta 2.

Good luck, folks.
