I choose "Yes" and it then downloads "synthesis.hdlist.cz" plus some other files. But after loading a few files, it downloads "synthesis.hdlist.cz" again, plus the other files. Then it just keeps repeating this until I click cancel. Then it says that the download failed. This was when installing on VirtualBox under Ubuntu 10.04 (connected to the Internet while installing of course). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Alpha 1 How reproducible: Not sure since I've only installed once. The installation completed ok though so it's not a major bug I guess. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Do normal installation (perhaps only under VirtualBox, not sure) 2. When being asked if you want to install additional choose yes 3. The download repeats and repeats It might have been that the download failed, but I didn't get that information until I clicked cancel. When downloading (or attempting to download) it looked as if it succeeded in downloading the different files. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:

Alpha2 is going to be released soon, see if the same bug is still valid. Thanks.

Hello! I tried to install Mageia Beta 2 yesterday and got the same problem. I installed the Gnome CD in VirtualBox under Ubuntu 10.04. I got the same problem during installation (loading the synthesis.hdlist.cz over and over again), but this time I could cancel and complete the installation. But the software repository doesn't have any software except what is installed and when I try to update the mirrors it starts downloading synthesis.hdlist.cz again, over and over. At first I thought it was a network issue, but I'm pretty sure it actually manages to download the file, as it first takes several seconds, which progress being shown and a download speed, and the subsequent times the download is faster (presumably because it is already cached locally). If I cancel it says that it failed.
My guess would be urpmi picks a slow/faulty mirror from the mirrorlist... but that's just a guess. If you completed the installation please attach /root/drakx/report.bug.gz from the installed system.
Created attachment 323 [details] report.bug.gz was missing, but sending updates.log which seems to show the behaviour I got
Just noticed that it seems that it is downloading a file with the same filename (synthesis.hdlist.cz) several times, but it seems that between the downloads (or attempts) it displays something else which goes by to fast to see what it is exactly. It might be that this actually is the correct behaviour, but if so it needs to be clearer that it's not downloading the same file several times but different files, as now it only looks as if it fails.
Hm.. Seems to be successful now (in alpha 1 it wasn't though as the install failed completely, but now in beta2 seems ok). But as I write in my previous post. There should be some way to see that this is the correct behaviour...
