seems drakxtools is not in the dual, can you install it and see what other package come with it ?

Summary: MCC does not start from cli or its desktop icon, it displays the root p/word window flashes the start up graphic but fails to open the control centre => MCC does not start from cli or its desktop icon, it displays the root p/word window flashes the start up graphic but fails to open drakxtools

Comment 2 John Bowden 2012-10-11 10:45:18 CEST
Opening the "software manager" and searching for drakxtools shows:
drakxtools, drakxtools-backend and drakxtools-curses is installed.
Comment 3 Manuel Hiebel 2012-10-11 10:51:19 CEST
this seems strange as none of them are in the dual, will check today if I have time.
Comment 4 John Bowden 2012-10-11 12:54:05 CEST
ennael has just told me there is a re-spin of the dualarch cd. I'm using the Thu Oct 4 13:55:20 CEST 2012 (from the date.txt file).
doing a search in the software manager for "drakx" I get:
drakx-kbd-mouse-x11
drakx-net
drakx-net-applet
drakx-net-text
drakxtools
drakxtools-backend
drakxtools-curses
libdrakx-kbd-mouse-x11
libdrakx-net
I'm also not being asked to set up my software sources.

Ok I can reproduce with the old iso, in fact there was nothing in the idx so forget my comment 1...

same if we run the drakconf from the terminal as root

'Glib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema "org.gnome.system.proxy" is not installed' hints to a gnome platform issue...
Comment 7 Thierry Vignaud 2012-10-11 16:40:18 CEST
Look in google, this affected other apps in the past.
There must be some broken dependancy somewhere in the stack

Comment 8 Olav Vitters 2012-10-11 17:02:28 CEST
Do you have any of the following installed:
 - gnome-control-center
 - libproxy (gnome subpackage)
 - glib-networking

All these packages seem to have lacked a dependency on gsettings-desktop-schemas. I'm guessing the problem is glib-networking btw.
Comment 9 John Bowden 2012-10-11 17:23:46 CEST
All three of the above packages are missing in this install.
Comment 10 Olav Vitters 2012-10-11 17:25:06 CEST
Can you attach the output of rpm -qa ?
Comment 11 John Bowden 2012-10-11 17:43:29 CEST
The out put for that command is 2 pages long and i will have to manual type it into this box, from the 64bit qa box
I'm in the process of installing the latest iso (with the midori update) onto
my 32bit qa box, I will check out all three of my bugs on it when its finished and if the browser works I can copy and paste it directly into this page.
Comment 12 John Bowden 2012-10-11 18:50:27 CEST
MCC is running on on the 32 bit qa box with the latest iso. I have just added on line repos and will add a web browser and irc client and a few other bits.
Comment 13 Olav Vitters 2012-10-11 19:56:45 CEST
Which iso and which steps should I follow? Install what?
Comment 14 John Bowden 2012-10-11 20:33:47 CEST
I installed onto a /boot and encrypted /root & /home rest was defaults.
Its working on my 32bit qa box and will try to re-install onto the 64bit box later tonight after the qa meeting. If I don't have the energy I will do the install tomorrow, (Friday)
Comment 15 Olav Vitters 2012-10-11 20:36:19 CEST
