I've had good success just installing the RPM that Brother provides. These are binary-only drivers, but the license agreement is the most liberal I've ever seen for proprietary software, basically MIT: http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agreement/agreement.cgi?dlfile=http://www.brother.com/pub/bsc/linux/dlf/brscan4-0.4.1-5.i386.rpm&lang=English_lpr

Maybe use the script from Pardus: https://github.com/ozancaglayan/install-brother-printer-driver and to make easier, try with this rpm: http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/3/noarch/install-brother-printer-0.1-1mgr3.noarch.rpm I cannot test it with a printer, but i did some tests and after installing the drivers the printer is available in system-config-printer. Is it ok for you as solution ? I think it is better to keep it out of mcc

Is this one still valid? Seems to me that Brother is well supported in Mageia.

I'm still using the Brother scanner driver but not the printer one. I admittedly haven't looked for an Open Source driver for my older one, but the current sane-backends only seems to support a few Brother printers, and only networked ones.
